In the orchard that covers the eastern slopes of the Pico de Orizaba and Cofre de Perote volcanoes, this small town is characterized by large Andalusian-style houses with beautiful interior gardens. Through its streets, you can smell the aroma of roasted coffee, the hallmark of its magic, which also reappears in its parks, old houses and farms .

Coatepec is eight kilometers south of the city of Xalapa and could easily be combined with a visit. Its height is 1,250 meters above sea level , which is why it enjoys a temperate climate with little temperature fluctuations throughout the year. The main agricultural production is coffee of national repute. followed by banana, mango and other tropical fruits.

Its fame as a coffee town originated when the Cuban was brought to the Hacienda de Zimpizahua in 1808 to plant the seeds of the Arab coffee tree in its fertile land. Now it is considered the coffee zone with the greatest tradition and quality in the country. Coatapec is famous for its greenhouses and gardens.

The most famous places around this magical city are La Purísima, María Cristina and La Providencia. The main square is often home to stalls selling souvenirs such as necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings made from coffee beans.

➢ La Cabaña del Tío Yeyo is a wine farm in the middle of the forest , which has several ponds with trout. The restaurant is a two story log cabin , but upstairs you are literally eating in front of the forest. Here you can eat a delicious trout in mango sauce , a pitcher of passion fruit water , and for a digestive system a torito de cajeta, a traditional local liquor served with ice cubes.
