SEASONS OF YOSEMITE

Seasons of Yosemite

Giant Sequoias, Waterfalls and Welcoming Trails

Overview
The biggest trees in the world and picture-perfect Yosemite Valley reign on this journey—a treasure trove of giant sequoia trees, waterfalls, towering rock faces, and breathtaking scenery. Yosemite National Park hosts an embarrassment of riches, and each day you’ll delight in iconic landscapes that steal your gaze, including the famous Half Dome, El Capitan, Glacier Point, Tuolumne Meadows, and Yosemite Falls. Whatever you do, don’t forget your camera. (Ansel Adams surely didn’t.)

Meet in Fresno, then head straight for Yosemite National Park, spending two nights at the park’s edge near the famous Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias, with each day dedicated to guided hiking and exploring the park. Your last three nights are right in the heart of Yosemite Valley, for exploring more park trails to waterfalls, viewpoints, lakes, and meadows.

Your knowledgeable guide shapes each day to maximize experiences that inspire appreciation for the majesty and serenity of the High Sierras.

SEASONS OF YOSEMIT

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive in Fresno, CA
Meet your guide and fellow travelers in Fresno for a welcome dinner.

Day 2: Yosemite National Park
On the drive to the park, you’ll get to know your guide and fellow travelers and learn about the history of the region. Established in 1890, Yosemite National Park is one of our nation’s most cherished landscapes. Towering cliffs, expansive vistas, abundant waterfalls and important wildlife habitat are all part of the park's conservation legacy. After a short hike to stretch our legs and “get grounded” in this incredible landscape, settle in for two nights at Tenaya at Yosemite.
Day 3: Yosemite National Park
Walking among the giants of the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoias - some of the largest and oldest living things on earth - is a soul-stirring experience. Your guide will explain the ecology of the trees as well as some history about their conservation. The rest of the afternoon will be spent hiking the southern portion of the park. Tonight, we'll gather for a delicious group dinner.

Day 4: Yosemite National Park
This morning we head into the heart of Yosemite Valley for a look at the classic features of El Capitan, Half Dome, Sentinel Dome, and other iconic and breathtaking natural attractions. Our "guide's choice" hike today might include Bridalveil Fall and Lower Yosemite Falls. The day winds down at our next lodge, which is in walking distance of Yosemite Falls.

Day 5: Yosemite National Park
Season, weather, conditions, and our guide’s sense of serendipity dictate where we explore and hike today. One possibility is the Hetch Hetchy area, a glacial valley within the park that sees far fewer visitors than Yosemite Valley. Another option would take us up the Tioga Road to Tuolumne Meadows, with its high-elevation meadows and great views of the Cathedral Range. We return to our lodge to enjoy dinner at the Mountain Room Restaurant, with its impressive menu and striking views of Yosemite Falls.

Day 6: Yosemite National Park
Most of this day is dedicated to hiking and valley exploration. "Guide's choice" trails might include the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls, Mirror Lake, or Cook's Meadow. Later we can drop by the Yosemite Valley Visitor Center and Ansel Adams Gallery. Last thing this afternoon is a delightful private tour of the distinguished Ahwahnee Hotel, followed by a farewell dinner.

DAY 7: DEPARTURE HOME FROM FRESNO
Catch breakfast at the hotel and transfer to the airport for afternoon flights home.
